Steve Moscone To Make Graceful Exit
Posted by Ron Soussa at 11:46 PM

Last year's Mayor and the longest serving Township Committee member Steve Moscone has reportedly decided not to seek re-election and will make 2007 his last year on the TC. Moscone has been credited by his peers with bringing confident leadership to a position that had seen the two previous Mayors ousted while in office.

Last year, four of the five members of the committee, excluding Moscone, had a total of five years experience. Incoming Mayor Art Daughtry referred to his 2004 running mate this way: "He's a mayor of his word, and he just amazes me on his abilities and skill sets to manage us rookies," Daughtry said. "He was just incredible." See Daily Record1 and Daily Record2.

Steve did a great job of bringing together a new group that came in largely due to dissatisfaction with the old group.

It could have been a disaster, particularly without an administrator and assistant admin. But they came together and got their arms around some very important issues, and got some planning on track.

Steve Moscone deserves a lot of credit for being in charge and doing so well during a difficult year. Art's job will be easier because of what went on in 2006.
