According to your DR attachment it appears they are very honest and candid, with two saying that the current administration is on shaky ground, and the VP stating that we are finding with this new administration when you solve one problem it opens the door for ten more. Very astute.

Did "mayor" Daughtry just go on a golfing vacation with the Quick Check developer?

Bend over Changebridge Condos!

Dump Feaster and Pettrozino. They've been on the Board for too long and are a big part of the problem.

Petrozzino and Feaster are on opposite sides on most issues and Petrozzino has be right.

"Petrozzino has been right"???? On what? He would sell his soul to the devil to get turf on the high school football field even though the voters turned it down by a 4-1 majority. I hear he, Gamba and Sullivan will be teaming up. What a ticket! We can bring Kramer back to christen the new football field. Horray!

Don't re-elect any of them!

Gamba is Petrozzino's Son-in-law

Two very handsome men.

They will be great additions to the artificial turf industry.

What has society come to? Look at these terrible remarks and comments!

I remember when Montville had polite, courteous and plan nice folks!

I grew up here and always loved this town. It was a much nicer place to live and raise a family when it was farm land and just middle income, down to earth people.

What happened?

To Anon April 2, 2007 11:43 AM and other childish people:

If you won't use your real name because you are afraid of being embarrassed by your comment, then don't post the comment.

I have lived in this town since
1992 and I am amazed at the mean spirited competive, selfish nature of many of our fellow citizens. Its alright to disagree but lets not resort to name calling class bashing etc..remember we are at war
folks and we are all in this together.

Ron, I agree, but it is hard to give any credit or any merrit to those that post as Anonymous. It is easy to throw barbs at people when one hides behind the keyboard and monitor....but isn't that a large portion of society today? It is ok to agree, and it's ok to disagree last time I checked, one just needs be constructive, and make statements based upon facts, not opinions.

I agree that folks are not as polite and respectful these days. If we all stopped for a moment, thought carefully before we communicated our opinion(s), we just might find that others would listen and changes for the positive would happen.

Remember what we all learned early on in our lives:
"If you have nothing nice to say, say nothing at all."
or
"Do unto others as you would have done unto you."

and alway give a "SMILE"

The important thing is to learn about the candidates and vote. 80 percent of the voting public will stay home on this coming Board of Education election day and as was pointed out they are intrusted with 66 percent of the property tax dollar. There are almost 15,000 voters in Montville Township and a top vote getter will probably receive about 2000 votes and people have won election with as little as 900 votes. There are seven people running so there is no lack of choice and you get to vote on the spending plan for the district as well. There is no reason to ignore this important election. In the end three people will be chosen and the only question is will you participate in that choice?

Dan,

I couldn't agree with you more.

Who will you vote for and why?

Ron ou shoud start with who Not to vote for.

First Pettrozino and Feaster because they are the problem. Their records about the BOE offices screw up, the turnover in staff, and the terrible morale makes them unfit for reelection.

Next Gamba, because he is allied with Petrozzino.

Next Sullivan for the same reason, and because she is a very devisive and angry person. She quit as Board president.

That leaves Jackie Ritchel, a very nice person, and Tom Mazacaro and the Greek guy Spiros. They should be elected.

Paying attention, your comments about Arlene I believe to be unfair and there certainly is a lot to be angry about so we all should be angry. She certainly didn't support this lease and worked to improve things as far as educational issues. As far as being devisive why wouldn't you fight for what you believe in and with the controling people on this Board it became devisive. She supported safety for kids and took a lot of heat over the ethical failings of some of the Board Members. I don't want to condemn her with my support but she is exactly the kind of Board Member we need. She just needed more support and less venom.

Arlene Sullivan cannot get along with people. It takes consensis to make things happen in a group and she pushes others away.

Many of us remember how and why she left the Kiwanis and will never vote for her because of that. And if Petrozino and Gamba are running with er we won't vote for them either.

Arlene is a chronic complainer and did nothing to move the board forward in her first term. Why does she deserve a second?

She's exactly the kind of person YOU need Dan. The folder, that she lost at the debate which contained emails from you and Karen Coretelino on what she should say to the public that night, proves that she is your hand picked proxy. How about an INDEPENDENT THINKER, not another MIND NUMBED DAN GRANT ROBOT!

Dan,

Besides Arlene, who will you vote for and why?

It would be safe to day Dan will vote for Gamba and Petrozino.

It is nice to see I still have fans. For those who want to be fair go to www.changingimages.org and get a better more rounded picture of Arlene. Arlene is also a well respected member of the Parsippany Kiwanis and some of her charitable projects have been supported by the International Kiwanis. I have no idea why she left the Montville Kiwanis because I am not a member. Many years ago they refused me membership because of my political activities but that didn't stop me from supporting them when they were in front of the Township Committee with a project. In any event I won't get into candidate bashing or their personalities.
To the anonymous poster with the folder of alleged e-mails and notes. It wasn't Arlene's and no one lost it. It was my property and obviously taken while I was out of the building. When I returned It was gone probably taken by the poster themselves and was in fact my property. It certainly would not be something I would have done.

Most of the discussion over the past 22 posts is about personalities and half truths. Why is there no discussion about education? It is disheartening to see that not one entry has brought up meeting the educational needs of the students, now and/or in the future. Many people claim that staff morale is low. Over the years the budgets almost always pass, so you would think that funding could not be an issue. Although some may think so,the children are not pawns. Who is responsible for this disaray and instability and who will take charge?

I brought up education and ideas for the children to receive awards for only the most outstanding students so if that is not about education I do not know what is. Unfortunately, some have taken that the wrong way and accused me of wanting Montville to pay for college which is really crazy. I am in agreement with you. For shame with all these remarks and nothing for the education and the children.

I still wish you would explain how the excellent students would be awarded and where those awards ($)come from???? As I've said before and until you show otherwise, you're asking taxpayers to fund the program and that's just simply wrong.

Will any of the candidates do anything about the obvious?:

As the Daily Record said: Teachers Salaries are the 800 pound gorilla in the room: "It is somewhat disingenuous for superintendents to complain too loudly about budget woes when average increases for teachers and administrators in Morris County average from 4 to 4.5 percent a year. ......these increases represent a big part of the problem."

This is to the person that insists on my posting as being a taxpayers program. Let me put this to you in middle school terminology. Do you know what a Trophy is? Have you ever received one? They are rewards from an organization that you have contributed to and done very well. Who pays for that trophy? The organization does that you belong to. Are you getting the picture yet? It does not get more basic than this. If you do not understand this I suggest you seek help.

Dear Ananymous, here is your original post..."I have the best IDEA yet. Spend less than half on the project and give the other half as scholorships to our student's at the High School that have performed outstanding the entire time. Bring some initiative for our young adults for a good future. What can be wrong with this idea? NOTHING! This town has no right to even consider spending this kind of money, however, since they can afford or consider this than my idea is the best one yet. "
As you can clearly see you said to give it as a scholarship, that is a far cry from a trophy, isn't it? So take your middle school terminology and your pre-school lying and offer up an apology. As for your trophy idea, if that's the best you got as an incentive to a HS student again you fall way short. The incentive of doing well in HS is graduating as part of the honor society - that incentive has been in place for a long time!

I have just now had the time to log on to this posting. To quote WS, "There is nothing new under the sun, Horation.: -- this bickering has been going on since I have lived in town, 38 years and holding. If some of you think the BOE is incompetent now, you should have seen it in the 70's and 80's : incompetence is a gentle word compared to the viciousness, lies, dubious practices, and outright criminality of some board members and some administrators.

Why is it that BOE members are so open to attacks? Because they are the prime and easist targets for people's frustrations. Why are people so quck to criticize teachers? ( although when I see the spelling errors, they might have a point: blame it on the teacher, not the student!)

On one point we can all agree: the salaries of administrators, most of whom have made it a second career--- double dipping --- are scandalous.

For those who are so eager to criticize: may I ask if they attend board meetings regularly?
How involved are they in their children's education?

I am not pointing fingers until I get all the facts. It might be wise for others to do the same.

As for this posting: So take your middle school terminology and your pre-school lying and offer up an apology. As for your trophy idea, if that's the best you got as an incentive to a HS student again you fall way short. The incentive of doing well in HS is graduating as part of the honor society - that incentive has been in place for a long time! I will say that the Trophy Idea was a way for you to understand the Reward System other than the Honor Role. Yeah that is nice and helps with college applications, but how about another type of award for the outstanding students that have been involved w/community service in town, as well as 4.0 GPA. Should they just be on the Honor Role which is basically a list of paper? Or do you feel that they should be rewarded in some other way be it a small sum of money? as a reward. Why do you have such a problem with this? Why don't you get it. Why do you attack people with ideas since you DO NOT HAVE ONE IDEA since I have posted this. Perhaps your children are not smart enough for this and that is why YOU have such an ATTITUDE. Do not mention grade or middle school to me, it is obvious that you have no experience with the Upper Classman in this town and if you do I really feel sorry for your children. Lack of knowledge and not for the benefit of the children equates to a mess of a mother. Take you worry of taxpayers monies which is wasted on such crazy things as a lease for over 200Gs a year and go complain. Again, If you are not part of the solution you are part of the PROBLEM. You are a PROBLEM in plain english and like to bicker at other peoples ideas. Tisk Tisk.

You are all over the place, first it was a scholarship then it was a trophy, now it's for community service. I have a problem with this because the money always comes from the taxpayer and that's simply not right. I have nothing against programs to help good students but in general I think those are already in place, plus I believe that incentives sometimes teaches the wrong lesson, what's wrong with working hard to create opportunities for oneself, for it's in those opportunities that we really obtain our rewards. And please don't disparage my children, as both have brought home report cards with straight A's, that being said I will gladly take any "incentive" YOU would like to pay and put it towards their college education, just keep your hands out of the taxpayers pocket.

to the person who is advocating giving scholarships to honor students: has "Anonymous" ever BEEN to a Senior Awards Night at MTHS??????? There are many awards given to reward not only excellence in academics, but community service, sports, music, etc. And if he/she is talking about academic excellence, the person might want to start by noting the fact that it is an "Honor ROLL" ,not "ROLE" - quite a "duh!" --- please check on what is going on in the schools before you comment .
Thank you.
Terry Cavanaugh

Where could I find out about the candidates and their platforms?

Thanks,

Josh

Please remember your Golden Rules....

If you have nothing nice to say, do not say anthing at all. (or at least say it with maturity and good manners).
If you point a finger at someone, there are three pointing back at you.

Please, Thank You....

We all need to teach the children Manners, Kindness, Common Sense and true happieness and love for all.

The learn by example!

Congratulations Jackie!

Hard work pays off!!

Yes ongratulations Jackie. No surprise that the Petrozino/Gamba/Sullivan team lost, but Feaster got lucky.

If tom Mazacaro had done some work he mgiht have won too.

Terry Cavanaugh if all you can say is a typo was made you have nothing to contribute. And for the person telling me to keep my hands out of tax payers pockets, are your taxes so high that all you can do is complain rather than be of some use, it is ok when organizations need money and my children raise it on their own? Oh yes they certainly have done this. Funny how you can't give back to the children according to your theory. Yes I am aware and attend the award nights and the students are handed a piece of paper or in my children's case several, My children have many I can gladly say. I am aware of the activities and that is why I am commenting on monies being thrown around the township rather than some being focused on our students. If my child can raise $1000.00 for a good cause, than I find it hard to believe the township can't hand out small awards to the most outstanding students. This is also for the person that just does not get the entire situation I have raised. We can spend over 200,000 on a lease for the board of education yearly but we can not offer small monies for excellence. How disturbing this is. Why shouldn't it come out of the tax payer’s money? Expenses from certain individuals which are a JOKE are allowed in the budget. It is time to take a good look at the children who have excelled highly. There is nothing wrong with my idea. It is time for the township to give back a little to the kids. Got a better idea? Oh, and for the person that is so worried about the tax payers monies perhaps you should look at where the money is going. It is available to the public and if you think my idea stinks you should see what you are really paying for. You have the audacity to attempt to boo me for my idea yet all you do is complain. Go to therapy YOU NEED IT. Terry Cavanaugh if all you can say is a typo was made you have nothing to contribute. Anonymous April 21, 2007 8:30 PM - You are truly the one in need of therapy and a lesson about what taxes SHOULD BE used for. Please present your 'best idea ever' at the next Bd. meeting so that I may sit back at enjoy the laughter. And I'm glad your children have won their share of awards, but I'm sorry they are subject to your warped views.

It has already been suggested and is in the works so as far as your laughing go for it I think you need some laughter in your life. Meanwhile, I am a very happy Mother, with great ideas and I am all for the children, UNLIKE YOU. You are so nasty its a shame. Shame on you.

How am I nasty? You are the one who said disparaging things about my children. I'm all for the children, but unlike you I believe in doing it the right way, not be just adding to the tax problem this town already has. As for laughter in my life, your posting have had me in stitches for weeks.

To "Anonymous" who is trashing me:
at least i have the courage to post my name. And the use of the word "Role" was not just a typo, as it was used several times.

Since i don't know who you are, I can't recommend a good therapist for you, as it seems several people have opined that you might need one. Lighten up, stop pointing fingers, and check on what is going on in the schools.

Terry do you have a Psychology Degree, English Degree, or are you just the friend of someone that did not like my idea? Trust me making a typo more than once is nothing to bash one for, so you gain no kudo's from me. Secondly, you are pointing fingers at me for my suggestion. Why would that be? I thought we allowed these printings for people to have ideas and let the town know about them? Are you now the daily record blog police? Honestly Terry such hostility. P.S. Kudos to the increase for the disabled services in our Township/Students. I read about this and I was overjoyed. Anyway, I certainly hope that the next person that comes along and makes a typo, or has an idea does not get jumped on by you. It makes one wonder how short your fuse is. Have a great day. :-)
