What is your favorite Montville business?
Posted by Ron Soussa at 3:29 PM

In light of the wonderfully successful opening of Bonefish Restaurant in Pine Brook, this would be a good time for us to discuss our favorite local businesses and what we like about them.

What others would you like to see?

How about a supermarket?

I'd have to say Joe's Pizza. Good food, nice people, convenient.

My dog likes Metro Pet Supply.

Ron Sousa must own Bonefish restaraunt. How many times has he mentioned them already?

I enjoy the Red Barn on Sunday's. The perfect place to meet with friends and neighbors after church!

Ron

Why is Bonefish getting so much pub around this town? You're even putting up a Bonefish logo on this blog.

My fav...Landauer Cafe', hands down. Great coffee, great talk, great chocolate, and there is no better place this side of the Atlantic for a crepe.

I like to use graphics when we put up a blog topic and Bonefish is the only logo we've got. And no, I don't have any financial interest in that restaurant or any others.

The Landauer is very good! I enjoy all of their specialties and it is a fine place to pick up a gift for a friend.

Try the Bonefish, it's a great addition to our town and the food and atmosphere is great. And no, I also do not have a financial interest, I'm just not negative all of the time.

Tony at Valero has supported just about every team and civic organization in town. So I go to them for gas and maintenance. Try 'em - you'll like 'em.

Maybe they have a logo you can upload, Ron.

Hi Randy,

I agree with you completely about Tony (Speciale, for those who don't know) and Montville Valero.

I've been a customer since I moved to town - and almost became your neighbor :) - and his reputation for honesty and fairness is very well deserved.

Bonefish is a welcomed addition to Montville and looking forward to the Montville Inn opening soon, FINALLY, decent places to go to dinner, especially when bringing out of town guests. Always had to leave the area for a good meal and nice atmosphere.

I have to tell you, I agree with you for Metro Pet. They have everything you need in that small store. I was supprised. I would have never thought that. Plus the BEST price on Frontline tick stuff.

My favorite Montville business is G.I. Auto Salvage. Afterwards, I'll have to stop by Bonefish restaurant, since it's nearby.

We really do need a grocery store along the lines of Whole Foods/Market Basket/Trader Joe's.

I love Eli's Bagels!

It would be great to have a Market Basket or Trader Joes. How about moving the dog park and putting a one of those there?

Just tried the Bonefish Grill with the "gals" last night.
It was very good and I recommend it for a "special" night out (a bit high priced but worth it once in a while).

Wow. I was surprised by the one comment about having to leave town for a good meal. Ever try the Columbia Inn? Food has always been fantastic and service is A+. Try Montville Pizza for the best mussels!

How about the Montville Diner - it is fine for a tired and hungry couple after finishing a 10 hr workday! Nice folks, good food and you can go anytime, dress casual (some days it is nice to have just jeans/t-shirt).

Harrigan's is very good. Good atmosphere, good service and the food is very good.

I'd have to go with The Bergen Dance Center. They are the only dance school in town, and that lady certainly knows her stuff!!!

Our family loves Joe's Pizza (and the people there are great), but I really prefer the thin crust pizza from Columbia Inn and most of their menu items. Columbia Inn's seafood and pasta beat Bonefish by a country mile and the wait staff treat regulars like family. Columbia Inn has a fairly smart wine list, too.

I completely agree that we need a Trader Joe's or Whole Foods in Montville. I'd also like to see a decent sandwich/soup place like Panera. Does anyone know what they are planning to put in place at the location of the old deli and meat store at Changebridge Road Plaza?

Yes I have tried Columbia Inn ..and yes the food is pretty good, however, they have not updated that restaurant in years...it is very tired looking, noisy and when I have friends from New York or Bergen county, that is not the atmosphere I want to take them, so we go to Madison, or Morristown. I would never have a party upstairs, went to one once for something and it appeared to be a fire-trap...not that it was..but the appearance was awful.

So yes, I am grateful for the Montville Inn and BoneFish...the Montville Diner is fine for late night or very casual and a good hamburger, you can keep the rest.

We need less pizza places, and nail salons. What we need is a supermarket, or deli that is clean and has fresh meat, fruit, and vegetables

My favorite business is Pine Brook Transition and Auto Care Center on Rt46 E next to Allenbys. The owner Jim is the most honest person I have ever met and doesn't fish for problems that are not there.

A Dunkin' Donuts is proposed for at least a portion of what used to be Montville Meats.

We need a good bakery in town

I love going to Petals of Pine Brook Florist the atmospher is lovley and the employees are terrfic.

Those involved in the development of the Montville Inn should be commended for doing an amazing job. It looks beautiful and fits in the town very nicely. It's quaint and charming! (MUCH MUCH BETTER, than what was there) Seems like a great family place to go to. It's businesses like this that make our town a desireable place to live. Thanks!

We just tried the Montville Inn. Great food, even better atmosphere. The pictures on the walls of the old canal, stores, hotel, etc. are charming. The salmon was the best I've ever had. My husband had the calamari and ribs. He never looked up until he finished. We'll be back!

What are the prices like at the Montville Inn?

Montville Inn = $12 burgers & $12 mixed drinks.

Can't locate Montville Inn Menu on any website.

Does anyone know if they have one?

I like to know exactly what a new establishment offers and the prices before I go there.

Thank you.

I agree with anonymous July 26 10:22 - a bakery would be most enjoyable along with perhaps an old fashion luncheonette/soda fountain store.

We ate at Tiffany's in Pine Brook last evening.

Nice, good food and very comfortable atmosphere.

Bonus - the prices were not too bad either!

I saw a post saying we had a pet store in town, can anyone tell me where it is? I live in Pine Brook and never saw it. I have 3 dogs, would love to support a local business.

Metro Pet Supply is located on 202 heading towards Boonton - on the left just before the bowling lanes.

I've been a client at Metro Pet Supply in Montville ever since the pet food scare. Although it is off the beaten path, they sell only the most healthiest of foods for my dogs. It's worth the money to keep my dogs away from the vet or even prolonging their life, for that matter.

Metro Pet Supply has a really amazing selection of top quality pet foods and accessories. It is reasonably priced and is owned by a Montville resident (Frank Cooney) too.

Why buy from a big chain store when you can get better products and prices from a local merchant?

I'd say the Red Barn for breakfast and Tiffany's for dinner... We're really missing a good lunch spot...

What about Milan. I have been there many times and the food is delicious. Their Chicken Savoy,
steaks and fresh fish can't be beat. The atmosphere is the best around. The others are diners and so-called bar foods.

Well enough said about all the wonderful places to go and eat in Montville, and I agree with most.
But I have too say that I just had my carpets, and Tile & Grout cleaned in my home By a local guy in Montville, They are Clean Impressions, and the people, Len and Dawn who own it are residents as well. They did a fabulous job.
I found them on www.ethicalservices.com.
They happen to be the #1 rated Carpet Cleaner in all of New Jersey.

The Valero Station gets my vote. Tony is always upfront and honest with his customers.

Joe's is of course a staple in town!
Barry's is too!

We do need a nice Italian restaurant along the lines of a Bensi in town. Family..fair prices..good food.

Columbia Inn has the worst service ever. They are slower than molasses...everytime I go, I say NEVER AGAIN...done with that.

RED BARN ROCKS FOR BREAKFAST!!!

I agree with Randy. GI Auto Salvage rocks!

Recently used Autolux MobileDetailing. They came to my house with their own water and electricty and cleaned my car from bumper to bumper! Nice guys too

I think SUPPA'S is great!Bring your own wine, ect. All friends and family I've brought with me think so too. Consistently good food.

My favorite cleaning company is Clean Impressions Carpet Cleaning,
I Just found out that they clean tile & grout, and I had them clean my kitchen floor.
I forgot that I had white grout, it is like a brand new floor,
Have Lenny at Clean Impressions restore your kitchen tile and grout to a brand new appearance. Thanks

Enjoyed reading the many endorsements of Montville TOWNSHIP businesses. You all may be missing one of the best all-round restaurants: Poor Henry's - great food, great prices, great service,
comfortable atmosphere, and the owner, Ken, visits every table !!!

we just had a party at Suppa's...both food and service were fantastic, and very reasonably priced. Their new party room wasn't finished then but we used the main restaurant which is very pretty and we were very happy with everything. I've also had lunch there and everyone in our party had a great meal!

Maybe the Dunkin Doughnuts will offer sandwiches to satisfy all you montville culinarians! Have you tried Paesano's sandwiches or the Fruited Plain's sandwiches. They are both in Montville township.

My favorite STORE....What else,
Barry's Pharmacy...What a fun place for gifts, cards, even things you weren't thinking of when you walked in the door. It's true enjoyment!

I'm new to the area. Are there any reputable car dealerships in the area? You don't want to walk in to some of these fly by nights and wind up paying later.
Thankyou

New or used cars???
Any specific manufacturer you are interest in??

Plenty of dealers n the area, just be careful with which ones you deal have had some bad experiences locally. Anybody Else?

The Landauer Cafe is my favoite store. Conversation is always lively and the cookies are way to good.

Truscha

Red Barn has the best breakfast. Fruited Plain has kick-butt sandwiches. And Columbia Inn gets my vote for best food ever. I think Metro Pet Supply is a rip off. As is Landauer. I went into Landauer for lunch once, came out with a crepe and a bowl of soup. Cost me over $20.

I THINK THEY SHOULD STOP BUILDING BANKS AND BUILDINGS AND DOG PARKS.WE NEED TO HAVE SOME GOOD RESTARANTS THAT ARE GOOD.

RAR auto shop (Joe Ramolla's place on Old Bloomfield Ave, Pine Brook, behind the Pine Brook Post Office) gets my vote for Favorite Montville Business. Once I found that place and their customer-friendly service, I have never again taken my car back for service at the huge, impersonal, rip-off car dealership where I bought it. Joe and his guys have picked me or my family up when stranded, towed us when needed, and reliably handled repairs and maintenance for our cars. The fact that Joe also volunteers extensively in the community is icing on the cake (Montville drug awareness council, Kiwanis, etc.). You'd think I was getting paid to make such a positive plug like this but frankly they've helped me out in enough car glitches, etc., that I don't need any payback for just acknowledging their top notch service.
-Pat (and Sarah) F., Pine Brook

I agree about Romola...excellent service and super nice and accomodating staff.

I love dining at Sevilla. The food is delicious & you always leave with leftovers. The service is great & the prices are very reasonable. It's the only place I know that sells a full drink for $5.00. Have you ever ordered a glass of wine & get 1/4 of a glass of wine & pay $8.00- 10.00? ...Not at this place....and their Sangria is extremely tasty...

I am so sick & tired of hearing about Bonefish. Been there & done that & I'm not impressed one bit...It's just another chain restaurant people!! Let's get over it!

SWAYDE!!!!!!! JoAnn & Tracy have done amazing things with this space! This boutique is much needed addition. The store has a great feeling....lots of fun!

I love Swayde too! I just went in the boutique for the first time today with my sister. What a great and fun place! An awesome addition to our town. If we could just add a few more places to that area in the vacant stores, we would be all set! Great job Swayde, best of luck to you!

We need a Trader's Joe and a good bakery!!

Best kept secret in town...Gabriel Jewelers beautiful jewelery, great prices, and service. I wish I realized they have been there for so long!!!

I love going to Paesano's; their subs are great, and they offer a really good soup and sandwhich combo for lunch! Plus, I think they're one of the only deli's in town that deliver.
