The Towaco Civic Associations Casino Night was a great night. All who attended had fun gambling, eating, laughing. The evening culminated with the drawing of over 65 baskets filled with various items. Jewelry, grilling tools, fitness memberships sporting tickets. So many wonderful baskets all presented beautifully. Grand Prizes included a Florida trip, North Carolina golf trip, 1 year of Christina Valmay services. What a wonderful evening. Thank you TCA

It seems that there are a couple of items that may have been overlooked in your analysis. 1. Who is going to maintain the list of those who opt in to printed copy distribution? How much will that cost? 2. After the initial change over, how will new residents be given the opportunity to opt in, especially those who do not use the internet, and how will the names of those who leave town be removed?

1. The opt-in list will be maintained by the town. It is just a simple list that will rarely be updated.
The town must have a database that contains the names and addresses of everyone in town. Otherwise, how would we all get our tax notices? This list could just be a simple check mark next to each household that opts-in. The cost will be immeasurably low.
2. Whenever a home changes hands, the owners file a deed with town. Whenever a new deed is filed, a postcard should be mailed to the resident informing them of the Montville Messenger's home on our website, and providing them with instructions for opting in.
Take it away from the company producing and printing it now. I am SURE that it can be bid out for much less. Wake up everyone!

Now that we're done with the campaign, can one of the township officials who patronize this site (Mayor Daughtry?, Committeeman Sandham?) comment on this? Is there another issue of The Montville Messenger in the hopper? Will it be produced using some of the recommendations from this report?

I received my copy of the Montville Messenger today. If I understand that report, it looks like none of the recommendations were followed. We're still using the same old publisher and the same mailing format. Was this report a phony or is it just being ignored?

You're correct. None of the recommendations were followed, including the simple one that we should, at least, include an article in the next Montville Messenger that requested readers send in a form to opt-in to recieving printed copies of the magazine. I'd estimate that the recent issue of The Messenger lost approximately $7,000.
To my knowledge, nobody has even contacted the printers that were identified in the report.
One thing is for certain: whether you previously looked at The Montville Messenger as a waste of money, or a vital source of information in the community, it is now clear that we are wasting hard-earned taxpayer dollars on this magazine that don't have to be spent.
I can understand that the town has other priorities and doesn't necessarily have the time to spend researching the best way to do this. However, in this case, the research was done for them and dropped in their lap.
I see that Art posted on another thread -- how about a response on here from one of the TC members -- what is the deal? Have you looked into the info in the report?
I am a layperson and have not done the research, but if the info in the report is correct, seems like a no-brainer to make the changes that were recommended.
I got my issue last week. I read parts of it and then put it in the garbage. I would rather save the money on the postage and printing and look at it online. I am sure many others feel that way too.
